Region: Lazio. The vineyards of winery Il Casale della Regina are located in the heart of Ciociaria, on the rolling hills of the villages of Arpino and Santopadre.

Variety: Blend of Pampanaro, Maturano, Capolongo

Vinification: Temperature controlled fermentation at 14°, after fermentation the wine is aged on the lees for 6 months.

Colour: Straw yellow
Smell/ Taste: Aromas and flavors of nectarine, apple, bread crumbs, grapefruit, and white flowers. There is a bittersweet note in the long, steel-like aftertaste. A blend of 50% Maturano, 35% Capolongo, and Pampanaro. The name of the wine is derived from the military leader Gaius Marius and the famous battle in ancient Roman times at Aqua Sexiae, where he defeated the Germans. All the proceeds from that victory went to the treasury of Arpino, the city where Gaius Marius came from.
