Lorenzo Marotti Campi is one of the most talented and inspiring figures in the Italian wine world. Extremely knowledgeable yet humble, sharp-witted, and with a fine sense of humor: anyone who takes the time to listen to him always learns something.

The Marotti Campi estate was officially founded in 1999, although the winemaking traditions date back to the mid-19th century. It is located in the charming Morro d’Alba, where the Verdicchio vineyards benefit from cooler soils and strong temperature differences between day and night — ideal for finesse and aromatic precision.

Thanks to modernization by Giovanni Marotti Campi in 2001, the estate grew into an absolute quality reference in Marche and in Italy. They not only produce outstanding Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi (of which Salmariano is one of the most underrated great Italian white wines), but are also the leading producer of Lacrima di Morro d’Alba — the aromatic local red grape that is vinified nowhere else as refined.

With more than 120 hectares, half of which are planted with vines, Marotti Campi is known for wines with exceptional clarity, precision, and purity. A bottle from this estate is simply always a safe choice.

Vintage: 2022

Vinification: Harvest: Late September, handpicked in small crates. Vinification: In a horizontal roto-vinificator for 6 days in contact with the skins at 20°C. Fermentation is completed in stainless steel tanks. Aging: 12 months in stainless steel barrels, followed by at least 12 months of bottle aging.

Color: Intense ruby red 
Aroma/ Flavor: Aromas of blackberry and forest floor, black pepper, licorice, clove, and balsamic notes. Full and powerful on the palate, with dark fruit and spiciness; dry, with soft tannins, elegant and with a clean, persistent finish.

Food pairings:
