Producer: Le Forci
Le Forci is located in the hills east of Lucca, where the vineyards rest between 250 and 350 meters altitude on clay-rich, stony soils with high biological activity — rich in earthworms, a sign of healthy, airy, and lively soil. The cool, ventilated microclimate, influenced by the nearby Apuan Alps, ensures slow and balanced ripening while preserving natural acidity. Thanks to low yields, hand selection, and minimal intervention vinification, Le Forci’s wines present a precise, refined expression of the Lucca terroir, characterized by purity and elegant structure.
Region: Tuscany - Lucca
Variety: 60% Sangiovese - 30% Canaiolo Nero - 10% Colorino
Vintage: 2023
Vinification: Destemming is done entirely by hand, with maximum respect for the fruit, using special sieves. The grapes are then foot-pressed and ferment spontaneously in small vats without temperature control. Aging for 12 months in steel tanks. Bottled unfiltered in October 2024.

Wow, now this is really something fantastic. One of the best red wines I have tasted all year, sometimes it’s really not about labels, big names, famous territories, designer architect winery buildings, or all the other trappings. Sometimes, it’s just about how immensely great the wine is. And the Forci 2023 Rosso Toscana is just that, absolutely great. I especially love how Canaiolo Nero-driven this wine is: when you have good Canaiolo Nero it blends with Sangiovese in an almost magical way, as is the case here. The Sangiovese vines are about 25 years old: honestly, if they can make wine this good already now, it makes you wonder just how good the Forci Rosso will be when the vines age a bit more. Drinking window: 2025-2028.
A hidden gem from Lucca, not to be missed. Excellent price-quality ratio!
