Anecdote: When you travel through these places, you feel surrounded by tradition and the wisdom of the work of generations. The strong scent of the earth emanates from the plots of the rows of vineyards: it is this scent that makes this territory and the wine so special. They produce two different Greco DOCGs, to optimally utilize the territorial expression of the same vines, but in different positions and climatic conditions, which can give different flavors and aromas. Il Greco di Tufo D.O.C.G. Picoli derives its name from the eponymous vineyard, located in the hamlet of Picoli at 600 meters above sea level, in the northeast, while on the other side at 450 meters above sea level we produce the Greco di Tufo D.O.C.G. located on clayey, mixed limestone, gravel and immersed in the delicate scents of apples, quinces, and mulberries we produce grapes with which we can make elegant wines with a unique taste, tannin, and a long lifespan. This is top Greco di Tufo at very attractive prices. A gem that is still not well known, but that is about to change!
Scores: 93/100
Scores Comments Terroir Sense: An underrated producer but one that is followed closely by those in the know as a source of some of Campania’s best Greco wines. Pale, golden-tinged color. Apple, lime and a herbal quality on the perfumed nose. Juicy and penetrating, with explosive fruit and terrific cut to its pit fruit and ripe citrus flavours. This nicely dense Greco di Tufo comes across as suave but lifted owing to harmonious acidity. From grapes grown in the grand cru area of Santa Paolina at 500 meters asl, this is one of the best Greco di Tufo wines made every year. This vintage is another stellar effort from Bambinuto.
