Moscato D’Asti Vigna Vecchia
Producer: Ca’ d’Gal
Region: Piedmont/Asti
Variety: 100% Moscato Bianco
Vintage: 2018
Vinification: The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a unique aging process. After careful selection, part of the grapes undergo an "appassimento" method, where they gently dry to concentrate their flavors. The wine is then aged up to 60 months, resting in wooden crates buried under river sand.
Color: The wine has a straw yellow color
Aroma: Ripe orange nectar, grapefruit blossom, lime cordial, quinine, anise and vanilla on the explosive, complex nose.
Taste: Then similar flavors, with beautiful richness and an impeccable balance between sugar and acids. Leaves a mouth filled with juicy fruit and harmonious sweetness, with a hint of bitter aromatic herbs returning in the long, smooth finish.
Food pairings: This wine pairs perfectly with fruity desserts and is ideal as an aperitif, but also goes well with shellfish carpaccio, foie gras, and semi-soft cheeses (e.g., Saint Nectaire, Fontina D’Aosta, Provolone, Gorgonzola).
In short, very versatile.
Serving temperature: 6°C-8°C
Shelf life: until 2032
Since Alessandro Varagnolo joined Ca’ d’Gal, much has changed. His modern ideas about making and aging wine are truly impressive! The rising star in Piedmont everyone is already talking about. And rightly so, his Moscato wines are unique and incomparable to other Moscato wines from Piedmont.
The best of Piedmont in your glass!

Good full golden- and bronze-tinged straw yellow. Ripe orange nectar, grapefruit blossom, lime cordial, quinine, anise and vanilla on the explosive, complex nose. Then similar flavours, with lovely richness and impeccable sugar/acid balance. Leaves a mouth filled with juicy fruit and harmonious sweetness, and a trace of bitter aromatic herbs picking up on the long, smooth finish. Very nice: this is one heck of a Moscato d’Asti. The deep, ripe aroma and flavours are highly typical of aged Moscato Bianco: like older Champagne, this is more like a still wine than a sparkling wine, but is young enough that it hasn’t yet totally veered into the still life phase. Made from 60 years old vines in Canelli, the grandest grand cru for Moscato Bianco, aged in sand-filled crates buried beneath the sand. Drinking window: 2025-2032.
