Producer: Vigna Petrussa
Region: Friuli – Prepotto near the Slovenian border and close to the Judrio river
Variety: 100% Schioppettino

Vinification: Maceration on skin, during the maceration, the wine is regularly pumped over to a 2also tank.
18 months aging in barrel, 12 months in bottle.
The appassimento method is applied here (as with the well-known Amarone wines). This results in an increased concentration of aromas and flavors.
From overripe indigenous Schioppettino grapes. Ruby red with a pomegranate red hue.
This wine fascinates us with flavors of quinine, mixed with paprika. Cinnamon, licorice, a balsamic hint where mountain pines come forward, sweet spices, star anise, and mulberry jam.
A complex wine, fluid, elegant, well-structured. Very long and coherent, persistent.
Color: Ruby red
Scent: Zwait pepper and dried plum
Taste: Complex and elegant in the mouth, but also intense and spicy.
Dish combinations:
- Hard ripe cheeses
- Desserts with chocolate
Wild boar ragu with tagliatelle, (ideally a bit of cinnamon is part of your sauce).
Serving temperature:18 C°
Shelf life:until 2035
Scores: Vinous 93/100
"Barbara and Hilde are grandmasters of the Schioppettino. They know better than anyone how to bring out the best in this grape."
"Over the years, Hilde has been able to experiment with different vinification methods, using various yeasts; now she only uses indigenous yeasts, which has only increased the 'terroir' quality of her wines!"
For those who thought that only top white wines are made in Friuli, don't be mistaken, this is a top red wine for those who love elegant, complex wines.
