Recioto della Valpolicella

Producer:  Cantina Montenigo

Location: The vineyards are located in Montorio (Val Squaranto), a few kilometers from the center of Verona, in the Veneto region

Variety: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and Oseleta

Vintage: 2020

Vinification: The prolonged drying of the grapes involves a natural increase in sugar content, with a weight loss that can even reach fifty percent. After pressing the grapes, a slow spontaneous fermentation follows that naturally ends during refinement in small barrels. Then the wine matures for 30 months in small barriques before being bottled.

Color: Ruby red color with garnet reflections

Aroma: beautiful balance between ripe fruit, plum, black cherry and spices.

Taste: Elegant, warm and enveloping taste, softness in contrast with the tannin structure and the alcohol content.

Dishes to pair with:  It pairs excellently with all kinds of dry pastries, such as cantucci, sbrisolona and cakes. Also ideal with bitter chocolate. Meditation wine.

Aging potential: 2032

At what temperature to drink: The ideal serving temperature is between 15° and 18°C

We instantly fell in love with the wines of Montenigo. Exceptional finesse combined with the intense fruitiness that characterizes Valpolicella wines.

Top class!

Comments Ian D’Agata : 94/100

Rich, dense juicy and really very good: what else is there to add about this delicious, very serious Recioto? Boasts nicely chocolaty, earthy and tarry nuances to the very typical sweet aromas and flavours of clean fresh red berries and ripe dark cherry and plum. Boasts marvelous sugar/acid balance (about 80 g/L residual sugar and 6.6 g/L total acidity, pH 3.6). Finishes long, suave and luscious. Great stuff here folks. Made with organically grown grapes this is the usual blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, Oseleta and Corvinone that were basically air-dried for about three months. Drinking window: 2025-2032.
